HOW CASABLANCA PIVOTED TO PARISIAN CULT LUXURY

FROM STREETWEAR TO CULT FRENCH LUXURY, CHARAF TAJER HAS CHANGED THE GAME

HOW DID CASABLANCA BECOME FRENCH FASHION?

Being a Parisian, Tajer was born and raised in a city with a great heritage for fashion. For him, the classic houses of the city have beauty instilled in their identity. His dream is that Casablanca will one day be looked at in that same way. Casablanca aims to represent the beauty, elegance and comfort. The features that these other luxury fashion houses have helped define, and be a neo-classic fashion house.

WHERE DOES YOUR INSPIRATION TO CREATE BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES, THAT MEN ARE EAGER TO EMBRACE, COME FROM?

We wanted to bring back an elegance to menswear that we felt was missing. Sportswear has dominated menswear. Never more so than over the the past two years and through the pandemic. Casablanca decided that you can do elegant sportswear. That’s where Casablanca decided to take their seat. By showcasing that you can ELEVATE sportswear. We refer to it as ‘sportivement élégant.’ Our male models wear pearls, cardigans and pleated blouses. Casablanca’s collection this season embraces soft sensitivity, in both their designs and styling. The reason? To Chafar Tajer it imbues confidence and strength.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT IN THIS SEASON’S, THAT SETS THE COLLECTION ENTIRELY APART?

Our tailoring. It is just as much a part of our DNA as our silks is to Casablanca. For certain pieces in this the collection, micro-fragrance encapsulation technology was incorporated into it. Infusing essential oils into the merino wool. I think this technique is pretty amazing and it shows Casablanca tailoring as something different and unique. Casablanca in and of itself is something different and unique.
