Mr. Porter Unveil’s Their New Style Council

The online retailer Mr. Porter has long been my go to for buying pretty much anything from clothes, shoes, to candles and books. I have been using the site since its launch in 2011, when it was announced that Net a Porter would get a male counterpart. I remember thinking its about damn time!  They always have everything that I am looking for and more, and to top it off their packaging is incredible. Honestly I am a sucker for great packaging, it makes a mark on the consumer from their first purchase and certainly had me hooked. Mr. Porter’s items always arrive in a huge black and white box, with black tissue and a sticker saying Mr. BGB. Its actually where my instagram handle was inspired from, which ultimately lead to the naming of this blog.

Well now they have managed to wow me once again. On October 20 2016, they launched the Mr. Porter Style Council. This is a match made in heaven for the man who lives a curated lifestyle and loves clothes and travel as much as I do. Think of it like Jet Set Report and Mr. Porter had a baby, but the baby still sells great clothes and accessories. The creed of Mr. Porter’s style council is to let you know where the world’s most well connected men stay, dine, and drink. Their new in-look style council is now at your service and at no cost. In association with IWC Schaffhausen, they are here to provide insider travel and style tips from the world’s best traveled and trusted men.

The Mr. Porter Style Council provides their recommendations on hotels, restaurants and bars. The council currently consists of 112 members. You can choose from a dropdown menu what industry they are from: art, business, design, entertainment, and of course fashion. There is also a location search with locations from all over the globe. Some notable members are Dwayne Wade, Robbie Rogers, Diplo, Scott Schuman, Patrick J. Adams (from my favorite show Suits), Pharrell Williams and Derek Blasberg.

Some current recommendations are The Little Beach House, in Malibu, CA, Bemelmans’s Bar in the Upper East Side, and the Hotel Monteverdi in Tuscany, Italy. I am in New York currently and went to Bemelman’s Bar per their recommendation, named after Mr. Ludwig Bemelman, and loved it. I love the Carlyle to begin with but with illustrations of rabbits drinking and a great cocktail menu you can’t go wrong. Plus Woody Allen is known to do surprise appearances there, so you never know you might be sitting next to. Because I have loved this company for so long and they are such a strong brand, this is definitely where I will turn for recommendations whether I am at home or traveling because I trust their taste and vision. Head to www.MrPorter.com to check it out and see how you can utilize it for yourself.
